Sound Designers for the year 2016 - 2017
After 3 years of rigorous sound training Sam Sewell is ready to tackle the world as a 2017 graduate of CalArts.
Tony Jue is a BFA 4 Sound Designer who specializes in sound engineering, content creation and themed entertainment design.
Ashley Diaz is a BFA 4 Los Angeles based Sound Designer and Audio Engineer. Ashley is currently employed by Diablo Sound and takes part in audio installations with her most recent project being Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights mazes. She is currently a staff member at the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas which is an eight week intensive program teaching the art and craft of technical theatre.
Daniel Gower (Sound Designer and Composer) is an MFA 2 Sound Design Candidate. CalArts productions include: Medea, The Gap, House of Gold, 5 Seasons, Nightwalk in the Chinese Garden, Saint Simone, /peh-Loh-tah/ and Until, Until, Until. He designed, composed and performed with Nature Theater of Oklahoma (2009 to 2015). He composed an opera for their feature length film, Life and Times Episode 8, which premiered at Steirischer Herbst (Graz, Austria October 2015). Highlights include a residency at HAU Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin, Germany June-July 2013), Public Theater/Soho Rep/UTR Festival (New York Jan-Feb 2013) and Festival d’ Avignon (Avignon, France July 2011).
ANNA LIBBIE GROSSMAN
An East Coast transplant, Anna has worked as sound designer with groups including New York’s Articulate Theatre Company, The Tempest Ladies, and The Drilling Company’s Shakespeare in Delaware Park and Bryant Park seasons. Last summer she furthered her sound design training interning at Williamstown Theatre Festival, and there designed the Director Assistant production “Tough” as well as the site-specific Directing Intern production “A Reception for Time Travelers.” At CalArts her work has included explorations in interactive and themed environments, as well as VR, while she continues her theatrical sound study.
Gahyae Ryu is a first-year MFA candidate in Sound Design at California Institute of the Arts. She has worked in various productions despite of genres both in the United States and South Korea. Her previous selected production work includes: Peer/Gynt (CalArts), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (S.Korea), Come and See me (S.Korea), Liar Time (S.Korea), Three Sisters (Brooklyn, NY), We Fight We Die (New Haven, CT). She holds her BM in Music Production and Technology from the Hartt School of Music and technical internship certificate in sound from Yale School of Drama.
Malik (BFA 3 Sound Design Candidate) is an artist who focuses on telling stories in the fields of theater, film, and events as a producer, writer, and sound designer. Some of Malik's Sound Design credits include She Kills Monsters, House of Gold, Jackie, CalArts Halloween,Untitled Entry. Currently Malik is working as the producer for CalArts Graduation 2017 and CalArts Halloween 2017 and the Sound Designer on a new work , I Have a Big Name in Eternity, being workshopped this spring(2017). Malik is excited to continue to hone his skills in these different fields over his final year at CalArts and beyond.
