Gefei Liu is a theater maker based in LA, originally from China. As a producer, she enjoys assisting artists from various genres to bring their visions to their fullest potential. As a writer for theater, she finds her passion in telling impactful, imaginative, yet socially-relevant stories. The short play co-written by her, Two Goldfish (Who Become Heroes), premiered in Seattle Dec 2022, presented by Yun Theatre, and her first full-length play Birds and the Curiosity will premiere this June in LA at the Hudson Theatres. Her previous CalArts School of Theater credits include El Misterio, daughter, When Five Years Pass. She is also a founding member of How Bang! Club (IG@haobangclub), a virtual theater collective that explores the nature of human connections through producing unconventional, interdisciplinary, and heartfelt live experiences. Works she produced at How Bang! Club range from a site-specific one-woman show on a rooftop (Rooftop Somnambulism) to a verbatim theater piece with Wuhan community members on Zoom (20200123Live).
