Danielle Yingzhu Chen

Danielle is a Scenic Design student whose work focuses on the integration of space, light, structure, material, and atmosphere. She is interested in how scenic environments shape emotional tone and narrative structure, creating immersive worlds that support performance. Alongside her design practice, she has developed an interest in stage management, recently working as an Assistant Stage Manager for The Half-God of the Rainfall. This experience has expanded her understanding of how design operates in real time, deepening her awareness of timing, collaboration, and the practical demands of live performance. By bridging scenic design and stage management, Danielle approaches her work with both a visual and process-oriented perspective. She is particularly interested in how design decisions translate into execution, and how different departments come together to create a cohesive and responsive theatrical experience.
