My name is Mohan Zhang, a BFA1 Scenic Design student at CalArts. I believe in the power of storytelling through the construction of space, whether it manifests in a large-scale environment or a single, intricate prop. My aesthetic leans toward minimalism; I find profound beauty in simplicity and am captivated by how light, shadow, and architectural scale can redefine a narrative space. I am an observer by nature, finding inspiration in the vastness of the sky and the delicate veins of a leaf. For me, design is a relentless pursuit of the power held within words. I view literature as a sublime force, and my creative goal is to translate the intangible strength of text into tangible, visual worlds. Beyond physical structures, I am deeply drawn to the art of lighting. I see light as a crucial element in sculpting dreams, atmosphere, and raw emotion.
